Befriend Your Enemies, an emo/hardcore band from Levittown and Wantagh , began in 2001, under the name Daze Off, as a bunch of skaters trying to get a band together for a local school talent show. The talent show eventually fell through, but Befriend Your Enemies remains to this day, after undergoing a series of transformations and lineup switches over the years. Currently, Befriend Your Enemies is Mike Cristina on vocals, Jader Reyes on bass, Frank LeCrichia on drums and Joe Inciarrano on guitar.

Cristina, now lead vocalist, was kicked out briefly early in the band's career for undisclosed reasons, leaving behind Reyes to handle guitar and lead vocals. Cristina returned to play guitar for about a year before leaving again to go to college in 2003. A three-piece Daze Off, composed of Reyes, LeCrichia and Inciarrano, trudged on, playing over 100 shows in the New York area and eventually embarking on a short east coast tour in the summer 2006.

After disappearing from the live scene for a short time in the fall of 2006, Daze Off returned in early 2007 with Cristina restored to the lead vocal slot, Reyes on bass and Inciarrano on guitar.

The band's first proper EP, "The Crisis" was released on April 20, 2007. The five-track recording draws heavily from contemporary influences like Taking Back Sunday, Thursday, AFI and Brand New. "The Crisis" is distributed by the band at live shows, and can be obtained for free by contacting the band on the web.

In the summer of 2007, the members of Daze Off reorganized themselves under the name Befriend Your Enemies, with the intentions of pursuing a new musical style.
